Terms and Conditions of the Mobile App Competition for Girls

Who is eligible to enter?

The Mobile App Competition for Girls is open to all young women in Years 11-13 currently studying at a New Zealand high school. To enter, you must be a domestic student, as defined in the Education Act 1989 (i.e., the competition is not open to international students).

Personal Information

By entering you give us permission to use your name and likeness (if you win) for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.

The information provided on the entry form will be used to contact you if you are one of the winners. Your contact information will be kept confidential. We will contact you for your consent to pass your contact details on to any members of the media who have any interview requests. You are entitled to withhold your consent.

If you are one of the winners, your name will be published for promotional purposes.

Selection of winners

Entries will be judged by a judging panel of industry and Unitec staff (see the page “During the competition” for the judging criteria).

Entrants agree to accept the final decision of Unitec and its judges.

Prizes will be awarded to the person whose contact name appears on the entry form.

To gain the fees scholarship from Unitec and the scholarship from IBM you must be enrolled as a full time student in the Bachelor of Computing Systems programme within the Department of Computing at Unitec Institute of Technology. To retain the scholarship you will need to maintain a B+ average.The prizes are not redeemable for cash and are not otherwise able to be exchanged.

Notifying Winners

Winners will be notified at the conclusion of the second day of the competition, Sunday 9 August 2015.

Disclaimers and Indemnities

By entering the competition you warrant that your app does not (or will not) breach the intellectual property rights of any other person and you agree to release, indemnify, and hold Unitec, its sponsors, and judges harmless for any liability, damages or claims for injury or loss to any person or property suffered as a result of a breach of that warranty or these terms and conditions.

Each entrant agrees to be bound by all the terms and conditions of the Competition as set out here and on this website.
