CS4HS@Unitec workshop

Please note: there are also two CS4HS workshops being run in Christchurch and in Wellington, which have a different focus from the Unitec workshop.

Would you like to inspire young women in your schools to consider a career in computing? Would you like to gain skills in mobile programming?

Join us in October for a 2 day workshop to:

  • Increase your awareness of new and exciting computer technologies including mobile applications and devices, cyber-security, artificial intelligence and robotics.

  • Learn how programme android mobile devices as a tool to interest female students, using Application Inventor.

  • Learn more about the wide variety of roles available in computer science from senior women in the field.

  • Explore how computing can be incorporated into the curriculum .

  • Network with other teachers from the Greater Auckland area.

  • Prepare for helping your students participate in an Android programming contest using Application Inventor competition to be held in 2014. The winners will get scholarships and living grants to help them in their studies

Find out more about this exciting workshop in this website. Course materials and meals will be provided as noted on the schedule on both days. Participants will be responsible for their own travel.

Please note: there are also two CS4HS workshops being run in Christchurch and in Wellington.  These workshops will focus on sharing information about teaching the new Digital Technologies standards on Programming and Computer Science, and will also have talks from industry (including Google Australia) and universities. We are helping each other with the workshops, but these are essentially two independent professional development opportunities.
